Accordingly, under the revised policy, the Commission will expect the board of directors of a campus radio station to include balanced representation from among the student body, the associated college or university (for example, faculty or administration), station volunteers, and from the community at large. To ensure continuity of direction, the Commission also encourages campus stations to establish positions on their boards of directors with terms of more than one year.

Draft Constitution

1. The name of the society is “Okanagan Independent (or Campus-Community) Radio Society”.

2. The purposes of the Society are:

a) To foster, promote, encourage, support and provide for a not-for-profit radio station to enhance cultural, artistic, educational, recreational, and other activities that improve the quality of life in the Okangan, BC region;

b) To request and administer grants, donations, bequests, and gifts and to actively raise funds by any legal activity for carrying out the purposes of the society;

c) To purchase or acquire properties or equipment necessary for carrying out the purposes of the society;

d) To direct and manage the operations of a not-for-profit radio station in the Okanagan, BC region in a manner befitting the purposes of the society;


3. The purposes of the Society shall be carried out without purpose of gain for its members and any profits or other accretions to the Society shall be used for promoting its purposes;

4. In the event of the dissolution of the Society, funds and assets of the Society remaining after the satisfaction of its debts and liabilities, shall be given or transferred to such organization or organizations with similar purposes in British Columbia, as may be determined by the members of the Society at the time of dissolution provided that such organizations shall be a registered charity recognized by Revenue Canada Taxation as being qualified as such under the provisions of the Income Tax Act of Canada from time to time in effect. If effect cannot be given to the aforesaid provisions then such funds shall be given or transferred to a suitable level of local government;

- Club at Club Showcase events
- Positive support from students
- Speak with Students Union for help and support (student levy)

Sarah - Organizing fundraiser gig on the 17th at Well
- Mona will do posters
- Looking for volunteers to help
- Monthly fundraiser gig - next on Oct 13th

Rob - setting up station volunteers (350 volunteers at normal station)
- Rob editted support letters - will forward for everyone to see
- wants to talk to President of University

Amanda- Developed current operating budget (gave hard copy to Rob)
- With Shane's help will create press release/article

Rob C - Spoke with Re-broadcast Society in Lake Country - they will forward info
- Having real trouble reaching Winnipeg engineering group
- Will put shout out to NRCA list serve to see if another company comes up
- Talked about different locations

Cam - Society Directors need at least 5
- Shane and Sarah in and maybe one other makes 6
- Possible create society next meeting
