Council Meeting Minutes
7:00 p.m. Monday August 27 at Bean Scene
Welcome new members:

Call Meeting to Order:
7:10 pm by Rob
Approve Agenda:
Items 5 -10 were added as indicated below under new business

Approve Wording of Resolution from last meeting:
Due to Michelle Gee stepping down, the Board appoints Nicolas Morin, CATO Audio Engineering Department Head to the CIRO Board as a community representative.

Current Financial Report and review of allocations of expenses:
Current Bank Account Statement for Society Account: $383.72
Rob Madu presented allocation of expenses for 2007

Issues for Discussion:
1. CREATE Events
Alex to prepare table for CREATE
No music will be at event
2. UBC-O Student Radio Club change over of President
Alex to become President of Radio Club
Resolution: Lucy Rodina will continue to sit on the Board to represent students until AGM in November.
Passed
Alex will re-form the Club and apply for SU grant for club
Alex plans on doing increased fundraising on Campus including potential Rocktober fest and creating greater links with campus groups
3. Rockanagan CD
Approach all local artists at Rockanagan to appear on promotional CD
Cam will manage project
Lucy will assist with production and Nic will be approached for help
Sarah will help with promotions
4. Fundraising
Focus on CDs and development of future events

5. Kagemedia
Rob presented idea of members page on website for storage of important documents
Rob presented deal whereby Kagemedia would have a small banner ad on our webpage in exchange for reduced fees
Resolution: The Board supports Rob Madu furthering the development of a members page and banner advertising for Kagemedia

6. Roles – Who is doing what?
Alex, Cam, Rob activities described above.
Lucy: Moving Vancouver but will help as possible
Lindsay: Can help but not able to commit to doing CIRO show for CITR
Bobbie: Help with events, will be liason to SU
Sarah: Help with specific fundraising and promotions through media, October wine and cheese, invite to Sonoran Estate winery for Sept 30th event
Sunny: Former music and programming experience, willing to help
7. Letter of Understanding Student Union
Work with Bobbie as liason with SU
Rob set up meeting with Chrystal
8. Letter Vice Chancellor Doug Ohram
Letter sent by Rob to see if we can have discussions
9. E-mail Spam
Rob will help develop new e-mail addresses due to avalanche of spam

Campus Community Radio Okanagan Society

RE: 2007 Rockanagn Compilation CD

The 2007 Rockanagan Compilation CD is the creation of the Campus Community Radio Okanagan Society (CIRO). CIRO is a not-for-profit society creating a campus based community radio station in the Okanagan Valley.

The purposes of the CD are to:
  • promote local talent from the Okanagan Valley
  • promote the Rockanagan Festival
  • promote the activities of CIRO
  • provide potential fundraising for CIRO to create a campus based community radio station in the Okanagan

No member of CIRO or any other individual may profit from the creation or sale of the CD. CIRO retains the right to pay for activities or items directly linked to the creation or promotion of the CD from profits made from the CD. Payment will only be for receipted items and the receipts will be kept for 1 year and may be viewed by any member of the public. All funds raised will be used for CIRO to develop a campus based community radio station in the Okanagan. No artists will be responsible for any debts related to the creation or promotion of this CD.

CIRO will not retain any copyright over any music or combination of music relating to this CD. CIRO will not in any way pass on, sell or represent any material or copyright on this CD. All songs remain the sole property of the artists which have donated them for this CD for the express purposes noted above.

CIRO will print approximately 500 copies for distribution in September 2007. If CIRO wishes to print further copies CIRO will contact all of the featured artists to re-gain permission. All featured artists will receive at least one free copy of the CD if not more. CIRO will send the CD with a press package to local radio stations and to all campus/community stations in BC and Alberta.
